It wasn't until 9:27 am that we got another text giving his location. His sister and I were equally worried at that point and were on the phone together when the alert came in. The satellite tracker has a messaging feature but with limited characters and a limit on texts so we aren't going to get much information that way.

However, I knew that my worst fears were NOT realized, thank the Lord. Naturally I imagined him tripping, landing face first, getting a concussion and passing out, lying there in the cold and gradually getting hypothermia before being eaten by bears. (I have a wild imagination.) That said, I did hear about a hiker about his age who had to be rescued a few days ago and who did have hypothermia. The hiker who found him said he was a bit disoriented, which is what happens with hypothermia. And that can lead to the person taking their clothes off - right before they die. So, I'm super glad none of that happened and I wish all the best to the gentleman who had to be rescued.

Here are a few photos Bob sent. As you can see, it's all beautiful, even in the cold.

This looks a bit like the inspiration photo I used to create the "art" on the main page.

Bob said he slept in his tent on his second night and that it was much quieter.

Adding three days of pictures and the sketchy bits of information I have has taken me quite a bit of time. We'll see how this blog goes in the days and weeks and months to come.

As for me, ironically, I started the Lego set he gave me for Christmas which is the house from the movie Up. The first pieces I was told to assemble were these - the adventure scout Russell - loaded down with his backpack which has a fork, binoculars, a frying pan, a flashlight and a mug attached to the outside.

I can also report that Bob's houseplants (including three orchids in the shower) have all been taken care of today, as has the laundry.
