After taking two zero days in Franklin, NC to shelter from a storm and heal his blisters, Builder got back on trail today. He said he is going to be preserving his satellite tracker's battery as much as possible so he won't be sending any pictures anytime soon. But he was in great spirits when we spoke last night and was ready to get back on trail this morning - after having some real food and a Yuengling or two.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a bit about his little companion on his journey: Flat Bob. Bob (aka Builder) is a bit of a Renaissance man. He is a woodworker, stained glass artist, avid tennis player, plant whisperer and more. He even dabbles in watercolors!

He is also a member of the St. James Croquet Association which was formed (reformed) about 2 1/2 years ago. Since we both grew up with backyard croquet, we got involved right away. It is NOT your backyard croquet - check it out on YouTube - it is A THING. And our group has some of the most fun and special people in it (and I'm not just saying that because some of them are following this blog!) Most recently he helped organize a tournament for Golf Croquet. And he was given a patch with the association's logo on it (pink flamingo) to take with him on the trail. He took it one step further and made himself a "Flat Bob" and this is one of the photos he submitted to the SJCA of his little friend.

Posts will be infrequent for the next week or so but I promise to keep you all informed of any new information as soon as I can. In the meantime, keep sending along good thoughts for good weather, comfortable feet and knees and NO BEARS!
